Updated post

Exactly one year from my last post, i think.

Anyway, been busy this past year. So much has changed. Some of PJ's most eligible bachelors got hitched, including yours truly. Moved to SG. Why? Work of course.

Will try to update more regularly.

A lot has happen as well, Liverpool signed Fernando Torres, Ryan Babel, Yossi Bennayoun. Arsenal lost Thierry Henry, big surprise. Man U signed some new young blood but in a hassle with letting Gabby Heinze go. Please, if the player wants to leave, then let them go to the best club, Liverpool. Instead, asking him to go to some obscure club and ask him for loyalty. Pleasssseee. That's Man U for you.

As for me, I need to find something to do. Running the SG marathon maybe. This December 2007. Thinking of running 10km, but the timing is off. Maybe next year.

So many blockbusters in the cinema now, Die Hard 4.0, Transformers, Harry Potter 7. And I have not watched even one of them. I dun care, by hook or by crook I am watching at least one this week. Transformers I think. Let's see if I can get tickets...

World Cup 2006 is a flop

I haven't been here for awhile. Wanted to update on the World Cup everyday but work has been a hassle. This World Cup has really been crap. It started out really well. Most of the giants and favourites were showing potential. Some of the teams I expected to have a hard time really did. Unlike the previous World Cups, this time, most of the giants won big time.

Germany. As predicted host, started off with a 4-2 win, top the group with a 100% record. Klinsmann showed us a different German team, who attacked instead of sitting back waiting for opportunities. Klose has proven to be a wonder striker in the World Cups. 6 wonderful header goals in the last World Cup. Another 3 more goals this time. Players like Philip Lahm, Torsten Frings and Bastian Schweinsteigger have been outstanding. In the 2nd round, they met Sweden. Sweden was really dissapointing. I expected the Sweden from 2002, but they looked like the France of 2002. Then, Germany met Argentina in probably the juiciest quarter final this year. I was standing in a mamak stall watching this game. Full house. To be very honest, Argentina deserved to win, but Germany was the host nation. A few dubious decisions went their way and of course they had to make it into the semi finals at least. From there, everyone thought Germany would go on and win it. Who would have thought that they would lose to Italy? A few years ago, people would dread the game between Germany and Italy. B-O-R-I-N-G game. However, it was a fast paced game with Italy pushing the Germans. Surprise. Surprise. Well, Germany did lose to experience.

Argentina. My fav to reach the final this year. People were saying the cup was Brazil's to lose. I was thinking they forgot Argentina. True enough, Argentina came with an attacking team after the horrendous campaign in 2002. And what a performance by the Argies. Dubbed the Group of Death, the Argies proved them wrong. A 6-0 drubbing of Serbia. But an unprecedented end in a loss to the Germans. To be honest, I don't think the game was fair. And Argentina could have finished off the game early. But from the looks of things, Argentina will be the force to look out for in the next World Cup with the likes of Messi, Tevez and Saviola reaching their peak. Perhaps a Brazil-Argentina final in 2010.

France. The one team I dislike so much. The team is based on a bunch of worn out so-called superstars but rely on one man, Zinedine Zidane. Without Zizou, they would not be in the World Cup. As predicted, they crawled into the knockout stage, even against lightweights like Togo, Korea and Swiss. Frankly, I think Henry begged his Togo friend to let them score. Then they made it past Spain, only due to Spain's inexperienced team. Spain could have sat back after the 1st goal and work on the counter. Soak up the pressure and Spain will win 3-0 instead. Next Brazil, the Brazilians made their mistake of sitting back in the 1st half, otherwise it would be Brazil 3-0. Next Portugal, only a penalty by Zizou saved them. Riding on luck instead of skills. The most undeserving finalist of the World Cup. When Zizou retires, France would probably not be in the next World Cup.

Spain. A bunch of inexperienced youngster. As expected, Spain never makes it far. But kudos to them for their performance. A 4-0 opening win. And great performances from the likes of Xabi Alonso, Fernando Torres and David Villa. Only their inexperience cost them a meet up with Brazil.

Enough for now. Another I talk again.

Tuesday's mood

It's the second day of the week. Still a bit blurred. Probably because I slept really late last night. And I mean really LATE. I was supposed to go to bed early. Got home at around 11.30pm. Took dinner and a bath. Sat there and watched TV. By the time I dragged myself to bed, it was 2.30am. I was thinking, "Finally, I can rest." But it was too darn hot. I rolled around and around and around until 4am. I don't even remember how I managed to tell my body to fall asleep.

As expected, I woke up late again today. To be honest, I woke up early. Off the alarm clock and slept for another hour. Late for work, but I don't think boss will start screaming, seeing that I left office after 11pm last night. It's not his fault, I just could not wake up this morning, of I just didn't want to.

Anyway, he was in a good mood this morning. Mumbled something to us, which none of us understood. Everyone just nodded so that he would not repeat himself. 75% certain of what he wants, but sometimes the 25% would probably be what he wants. Asked me to help on something, I solved it last night and he said ok, without him knowing that I did it, but today, he said to try some other way, as usual. More work, that's all, even when we are on a tight deadline.

Thinking of going home earlier today, meaning before 8pm, hopefully. I have been telling myself this for the past 2 months, but work is always there. Someone should write a book, Work, the neverending story. Then they can make a movie of it, get Tom Hanks to star in it as well. I think it's time to get back to work now. Another time.

Monday Blues

There is that phrase, "Monday Blues." I am getting a full-effect of it today. Firstly, I woke up too early this morning. Surprise. Surprise. When I found out it was too early, I went back to bed. Actually shut my alarm off. In the end, woke up late, again. Promised myself to come to work early today. Ended up half an hour late. Thank goodness for school holidays. No traffic jams.

Boss is back today. Correction. Bosses are back today. Everyone seem to be working hard this morning. Nobody seems to be in the talking mood. Who can blame them? I wanted to check the blogs first, but my conscience ran in and I started work immediately. Actually did non-stop work for 4 straight hours. Wonder if it's a record for me? Anyway, boss don't seem to be in a bad mood today. He did scream at others a few times today.

I still have a splitting headache. I have no idea what's causing it. Perhaps migrain? or just looking at work too much. Everytime I ask boss for an answer, he gives me another problem. Maybe that's the cause of the headache. Didn't drink much but a cup of Milo this morning. Dehydration? Just blame it on Monday. Poor ole' Monday. But remember, it's the start of a new week. A whole long week that is. Can't wait till Saturday again. sigh.

Watched The DaVinnci Code on Saturday. My friend bought the tickets. So I just attended. What luck. The cinema was great. The new GSC cinema at 1 Utama new wing. When the story started, I expected the worse, seeing that most people who watched it criticised it. To be honest, I enjoyed it. The cinematography was great. Don't complain about the storyline. Most of you all read the book, so everyone would be expecting too much. Don't think about it and enjoy the movie. As a movie, the plotline was good. Ron Howard may not make great movies, but he still makes damn good movies. Good performances by Tom Hanks and Ian McKellen. Great film editing and worth a watch. And a word to you all out there, if you are paying money to enjoy the movie, then enjoy it.

Boss coming back today

He's on the way back. Someone called him this morning. He's coming back today. Rumours have it that his wife and kids are down there with him for the holidays. But for some reason, he's on the way back. Rumours could be wrong. Probably gossip from the office ladies. It's noon now. He'll probably be back by 3pm. The thought of his return has caused tremours among some staff. I have to admit it has caused a stir in me. He could return with a thunderstorm. Striking lightning and thunder into the hearts of the people.

Anyway, tomorrow's a holiday and I intend to make it one. I am not planning to come to work tomorrow, dispite my colleague telling us that he's coming. Yes, there's tonnes of work. But, it's a holiday and I want a rest. I just hope his return doesn't create more work for me. When he returns, he brings new stuff for us to do, most of the time irrelevant items that could have been avoided earlier on if he had listen to us. He's still the boss. Let's hope he wants to spend time with his family this holiday.

Haven't manage to get the tickets for the show yet. I was online last night, midnight, seem to remember to book for Sunday, but after some thought, I remembered I had something on this Sunday. So, I'll do what most will do, queue in line at the counter tomorrow and hope I get some tickets. Maybe I'll go for a midnight show tonight. Let's just see. I love impromptu planning.

Lunch hour now. Some are working, some are still out. I am sneaking a few minutes to finish this blog. Till we meet another time.

One more week to the World Cup

Boy, time flies. It's just another week, then kick off. Very busy lately. But bosses are not around. They'll be back tomorrow. Then they'll start yelling again. Well, at least it's the weekend then. Saturday is a public holiday. A day's rest at least. Unless of course they start asking for things again. sigh.

Need a rest this Saturday. But must settle my finance 1st. Need to pay some bills. Actually lots of bills. Thank goodness there is something called ATM machine. Just transfer the money or just put in a cheque. Then wait for another month and pay again. It's getting regular, as if I am in debt. Don't like the feeling of debts though. Who does?

Two new colleagues joined the company today. One man and a lady. Bosses were not around and no one introduced them around. They just sat there, looked at documents and maybe surfed the net. Kinda like when I first joined. I actually reported to work one day early, coz both bosses were going outstation on that day. They wanted to let me know what to do while they were gone. Still, I did what was told to do and had nothing to do for the rest of the week but look at documents and look around. Now, I am complaining there's too much work. One can never be satisfied.

Planning to watch a movie this weekend. Either X-men 3, M.I. 3 or Da Vincci's Code. Haven't been able to book the tickets yet. The only way I could probably book it online would be to book it at exactly 12am, when the tickets for the day are released. I get in the office early in the morning, tickets are all taken up as well. People nowadays really watch a lot movies.

Anyway, maybe I can still buy the tickets at the counter before they are all sold out. Thank goodness only limited tickets are allocated to be booked online. I have to beat the holiday rush and get the tickets. Maybe I'll go early on Saturday morning. I really want to watch a movie this weekend, at the cinema that is. Next week, it'll be football, football and football for a month.

What's happening, other than the usual.

It's been awhile. Been very busy lately. And when I mean busy, I mean busy. Blogging time is a luxury now. I can spare a few minutes to blog, but the server ... well, let's say most people can wait. Anyway, a lot has happened lately. Not to me that is. My football team won a trophy.

My fave football team, Liverpool won the English FA Cup. That's right, a comeback to draw 3-3 with West Ham in 90 mins and still no result at the end of extra time, Liverpool won on penalties. Watched the game. Was a bit gunned when Liverpool was still down 3-2 at 90 mins. Just as the commentator said, there will 4 minutes of added time, then ."GGGGeeerrrrrrrrrrraaaarrrrrrdddd" What a beauty. Captain fantastic scores again. I jumped and screamed. And shootout, Liverpool wins.

Nothing much happening lately. Fuel prices still as high as ever. And the electricity prices just went up. Business are not supposed to raise prices and are supposed to absorb the cost. Making a living is so hard. Selling electricity is a business as well. Why don't they absorb the increasing prices instead? I wonder how much extra do they make by the increase. This morning I heard on the news that the price of water is rising as well. 'Sigh'

Today I went for lunch. My normal price for lunch was up 10%. And that is a lot. Unbelieveable. Businesses, whether they absorb the increase or are capitalising from it, who knows, but the people who suffer are workers like us. My boss won't increase my pay because the price of petrol or electricity or water has risen, instead maybe he might decrease it because his cost his higher now. It's kinda disturbing. And some wonder why we go overseas to work.

Enough for now. Will try to find time to blog again. Soon this time.
